Writer Refuge

Times: 4 pm PT – 5 pm MT – 6 pm CT – 7 pm ET

They say, write what you want to read. Well, Carolyn and I are applying this logic to carving out what we need in our own practices—some quiet time to write with a little companionship as witness! Who doesn’t need dedicated writing time and a little community from time to time? We’ve each offered this in the past as writing coaches and wanted to bring it to Stories & Songs. We’d call it a mini-writing retreat or workshop, but that would be boring…

Introducing: Stories & Songs Writer Refuge, a 1.5 hour virtual writing time free to anyone who registers.

How it works:

We’ll say a quick hello and start the silent writing time (about 50 minutes). If you need prompts, we’ll provide a few in the chat. If not, bring your project and start writing! Are you a songwriter? No worries! Song ideas are everywhere. Use our prompts to generate ideas for a new or hard-to-finish song.

Sharing – We believe sharing is an integral part of your writing practice. We’ll make time in the last bit (15 minutes) for sharing. We’ll choose randomly from whomever volunteers in the chat. You’ll have 3 minutes (max) to share something. But, don’t be nervous. This is not about polish, but about your practice!

At the end, we’ll make time for a craft Q & A (15 minutes) and send you off into your real world.

This way, we can encourage you–and write ourselves—throughout the year.

Our one focus: Your Creative Life!
